ready. set. (almost) go!

October 28. Monday. My online shop opens. (gulp)

Have you ever done something you thought you’d NEVER do? Ever? Not in this lifetime.

You could have asked me a year ago, or maybe even 7 months ago, if I thought I would open an online shop? Me? I don’t think so.

BUT it’s happening! ME with all my Lyme distraction. And lack of tech savvy. Taking my art and recreating it on another surface.

I had a website. I put it up years ago when I was doing the large installations for galleries. But then when lovely Lyme disease came along and upended my life for a number of years as it was continuously misdiagnosed, I was making art because I love to work with silk and color.

I was creating art because I LOVE to create art. Always onto the next idea. As DeKooning once said, something like… every day, an artist wakes up thinking: today is the day I’ll catch the big fish! And the next day, they wake up with the same thought, ready to fish again. And each time they’re a little further along on their quest.

This online shop idea came up unexpectedly last April in a discussion about passions and then intentions, words that we all hear a lot, right?. And suddenly, they took on new meaning. Okay, so I do love my art and all right already, yes, I’m ready to share it.

So much trial and error ensued. My art is on silk – it’s a tactile fabric with a feel of its own, so the reproductions will obviously differ. But somehow I wanted it to capture the essence of my art…

First I tried pillows. And now, tote bags. I’ve decided to offer the tote bags first.

So yes. I’m doing it. AND I’m excited to have you along for the ride!

(Peaches: I’m ready. I’m always ready.)
